We have 500,000+ troops overseas in 130+ countries defending who-knows-what yet our borders are completely wide open to the invasion of illegal aliens. We need a military that defends *our* borders, not other countries.

We'll have the NAU soon ..one country from top to bottom. Illegal aliens won't be illegal anymore.

Isn't that what they're supposed to do...protect our country (borders)? I guess our politicians must have missed that part when they were busy planning nation building...

Angry What we need is a military that defends our borders

No...

What we need is an administration that will support our Border Patrol rather than jail its agents when they apprehend Mexican drug smugglers. The Bush administration has been tacitly approving of illegal immigration by simply underfunding and understaffing the Border Patrol and having its Justice Dept prosecute agents who aggressively pursue illegals and drug traffickers.

Bush's corporate pals love having this large underclass of illegals in our workforce. It keeps the minimum wage and benefits for American workers at a lower level. It's not as good as exporting jobs to China, but it'll do for those companies that for whatever reason can't tap into the Chinese labor pool.

Illegal immigration is an economic issue, driven by so-called "American" corporations who love cheap labor, but hate American workers.

Withdraw to the US border and leave all our corporations exposed to the rest of the world unprotected by our military might? What a novel thought and what a good idea. If a business wants to invest outside our borders then let the investors take the full risk.

If a country wants US investment it will protect the investors. If not, they won't. See how markets can work. They can get really risky when government stays out

We do not require and cannot support an American Empire.

Wrong.. If we enforced the laws that existed here in the USA, we wouldnt have millions of illegals attempting to get here, because they couldnt find jobs.
