I don't speak to Oakland because I don't know it but it seems to be the same about everywhere.

In Chicago you can walk a couple miles and go from murder rates of 1 per 100k to 40.

When I lived in Chicago, I lived in an apartment that was in a "safe" area. But literally, the next couple streets over was "the wild wild west" and a place I was warned not to go. Of course, I went, and even took a walk through during the day. It felt like dystopia after walking for about 3 minutes in the "wrong" direction. I can understand why these places are screwed up. Life probably seems rather worthless and insignificant to those living through a dystopian reality.

The other 25% is just some sort of argument or domestic incident but frankly most of those involve the same people in the other group.

Current prosecution in several of those cities is essentially to let them go with an ankle bracelet for a year or more (one was arrested recently after shooting a young woman and using their ankle bracelet as a holster). Or reducing felonies down to misdemeanors, dropping charges altogether or light sentencing.
Let's all take a wild guess how residents of violent areas typically vote??? Real head scratcher. Well, they may not vote, but guaranteed, somebody is using their name to vote.

Yup, and remember that Oakland borders Berkley. Gentry liberals living a few blocks fro urban warzones.

Head across the bay to Palo Alto, and it used to be the same thing. The extreme violence of EPA on one side of the freeway, and the Stanford progressive crowd on the other. That has largely been bought out by techies, although the bad part still exists in pockets.
