Yup, and remember that Oakland borders Berkley. Gentry liberals living a few blocks fro urban warzones.
Head across the bay to Palo Alto, and it used to be the same thing. The extreme violence of EPA on one side of the freeway, and the Stanford progressive crowd on the other. That has largely been bought out by techies, although the bad part still exists in pockets.
