Seems sensible to stop the new sales of leaf blowers, especially those with 2 cycle engines.

Quote:
Regulators and clean-air advocates are increasingly eyeing the pollution emitted by small gasoline engines used to power lawn mowers and leaf blowers as they seek to blunt climate change. Environmentalists say using a commercial gas leaf blower for an hour produces emissions equal to driving from Denver to Los Angeles.

Among cities and states with bans or limits: California; Burlington, Vermont; and Washington, D.C. Vancouver, British Columbia, also has restrictions in place.

While many critics first attacked the small engines for the noise they make, experts say these small, two-stroke engines release shockingly large amounts of pollution – two problems that modern and increasingly affordable electric-powered equipment solves.

Eh. They bother a lot of people with their noise for some reason. I don’t really care about that. The emissions are objectively bad, though.

They are eliminating the ability for white people to do their own lawns and landscaping... lol

Surely this includes weed-eaters...

Just get a simple mulching piece for your lawn mower. It just blocks the chute and then the mower does the work. If you are cheap just get a piece of sheet metal and make your own. I had an electric blower and it was still obnoxious with the noise. Luckily I lived in a conservative small town so it was live and let live and I could use it anytime with no concern for my neighbors.

Joking aside I like the mulching attachment because why waste free fertilizer?

Besides of noise and pollution, what bothers me the most is a total uselessness of it. (or inappropriate use by lazy, careless people)
While some homeowners use bags, the majority of paid landscapers just blow all the leaves and debris randomly into other neighbour’s lawn, the sidewalk and the road… or other common area. It looks filthy and when wind comes or car passes, most of it is back on the front yards.
The debris should be cornered and collected, but very few bother to do that.
Not to mention many small "businesses" use the cheapest and loudest blowers.
The noise at 7 AM on Saturday morning (sometimes Sunday too) is not what I want to wake up to on the weekends.

So, I don't really care what an excuse the regulators use as long that crap would be banned

only a “karen” would be bothered by a leaf blower. meanwhile in China where those lithium ion batteries are mined and the cobalt mined by children in the Congo for slave labor will certainly stop the climate from changing. and what’s so bad about climate change anyway? threats to people in Marthas Vineyard? Such hysterical pearl clutching.

with that said, i find mixing gas and oil annoying and having to put fuel stabilizer in the can for the winter to be an inconvenience. my Stihl battery powered blower is adequate for my acre property as i am surrounded by woods and can easily blow leaves into the woods. i also use my tractor to blow leaves. but banning stuff is totally lame and does nothing to stop the climate from changing.

Emissions are the least of the problems.

Ban them for the intolerable obnoxious noise and for the nasty bio-bits they disrupt and fill the air with. Leaf blowers are filthy and obnoxious beyond any debate.

What are all the illegals going to do to make money? Most can't afford electric tools. The left has created a conundrum.
