There has not been a true conservative in power in our lifetimes...you are mentioning RINO's, Libs, Dems, & all those in between...people on your side of the political calamity that has transpired since 1932.

The closest we came to Conservatism was the Tea Party movement...which led to Trump...a fiscal RINO.

Most here wouldn't know true Conservatism if it landed on their heads. They'll learn all about it after the collapse...see Argentina.

I am in agreement with you on the need for conservatives, but I think you are too optimistic about America's future.

It’s a race to the bottom in blue states. Major brain drain problem. All the smart, productive tax payers are leaving, taking their smart productive future tax payer children with them. Who’s going to pay for all these unfunded government liabilities on the blue state books?

Unless we take control of the Federal (in name only) Government, the Red States will have to pay for the Blue State folly.

Conservativism doesn’t always equal smaller government. That would be Libertarians.

When the Tea Party movement started out, it was libertarian in nature, but was soon co-opted by social conservatives and populists. A true small government party would keep abortion legal, would favor open borders and would never ban books from libraries.

Have you considered that the reason the former red states are doing well is because they were red states for a long time, which built them into successful states? There is no way California would have become as successful as it has with the leftist leadership it has today. We are seeing the beginning of the decline in former red states after two or three decades of blue policies take hold. Unchecked, left wing policies ruin every place they are instituted without fail. There is not a single example world wide were unbalanced, left wing policies have brought about sustained success.

Hard core right wing policies are not capable of bringing sustainable success either, but few former red states were run with hard right leaning policies. They were a balance of right and left. As the left takes over states with basically one party rule, those states are deteriorating without exception.

One of the most accurate observations I have seen in this thread.
(although we may differ, somewhat, on definition of "hard" right)

Both conservatives and libertarians want smaller government, just to different degrees.

No, that would be anarchy.

Those who understand human nature know that liberty can not be achieved, without controls.

Here is one of my favorite quotes:
Quote:
Men, in a word, must necessarily be controlled, either by a power within them, or by a power without them; either by the word of God, or by the strong arm of man; either by the Bible, or by the bayonet.

Robert Charles Winthrop
At least some of our founding fathers understood this.

Quote:
One of the foremost constitutional theorists of the founding generation, John Adams, observed, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious People. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
And make no mistake: he was referring to Judao-Christian morals and religion, not hindu or islamist.

I never thought I would see the day when the President of the Seattle City Council would be advocating for pay increases for the police. After 10 years with a self-proclaimed socialist councilmember and several others sympathetic to her extremist goals, there are now 5 new council members, all much more willing to address crime, the homeless, and public drug use.

Meanwhile, our extreme liberal WA governor announced that he will not run again, and for once there is a viable, well known Republican candidate who actually has a chance of winning in 2024.

There may well be a change coming.

Same thing happened in Asheville, NC. They are offering $5k bonuses to come work for the city as a police officer after they defunded and lost so many crime rose. Downtown business plummeted, so a group of them forced City Hall to do a 180.
