Government corruption and political instability.
Biden and his family's shenanigans, Jan 6, election fraud, Trump's indictments/impeachments, huge divide between the 2 major political parties.

Inflation
Over-reliance on artificially low interest rates to spur economic growth, and now money printing on overdrive.

Military overspending and overexpansion.
$1T/year on the military to support 1000 military bases around the world.

Are we to expect a different outcome?

You need to read up more on the fall of the Roman Empire if you dont see any resemblances between the two.

The decline of the American mind - increased irrationality, belief in fiction and lies - coupled with disunity and class wars, are better indicators of downfall.

But... it's still Chicken Little drama. We are not much worse off or different than in decades past. It's the noise and drama that are paraded more. You can create maximum drama with lots of noise and screaming and mindlessness. But in the end, just an emotional distraction to be minimalized.

Rise above the drama, and use your mind instead of your emotions. Stop acting like lemmings headed towards the cliff...

You forgot overspending on freebie welfare handouts, the "bread" in the infamous "bread and circuses" phrase coined by Roman poet Juvenal in Satires, Satire X, c 120 CE. It means the superficial appeasement of the masses.

There aren’t many similarities

There are quite a few similarities.

A problem with the Roman empire was that in Roma they had the modern convenience of water at the turn of a handle only that water that they used for everything was run through lead pipes. They also used mugs made out of lead for drinking. All that toxic metal in their bodies befuddled their minds and led to poor decisions by the ruling class. We now recognize the dangers of lead and have removed it from our everyday lives but could the Covid vaccines be the new lead? Our leaders are certainly befuddled and making poor decisions...

And don't forget the slaves from near and far that the Romans had working for them that eventually took over. We don't have slaves but we have Millions of Illegal Aliens.....

So yes, we could be heading down the same road to ruin that the Roman Empire did.

There may be some similarities, but there are significant differences. In particular, science and technology have radically altered the circumstances. We possess the means to potentially counter the issues that the Roman empire couldn't rectify.
