Is this our new norm? It is like these people feel owed this. So odd to see that many people of like minds that are okay with such a horrible act. Pretty crazy.
They're claiming it's serious organized crime. I've been to several Target locations in Manhattan and they all seem to have several people watching like hawks, not to mention almost everything under lock and key. Easier to just order from Amazon, which is what I do now.
One would expect business interests to fight back. Why are they hanging back? Don't they depend upon the rule of law for their existence?
There was no resistance to "bail reform." There has been no insistence that prosecutors and judges do their jobs. Or have we just given up as a society?
My first thought was that they simply spread the cost of theft loss to other consumers in other locations. So, we cover it. I suppose insurance reimburses for some of it. In locations that are liberal dives, and already in trouble, the thief is just the last straw.
My final thought is businesses are afraid of being burned to the ground, and for the welfare and safety of their customers and employees that could be harmed when someone cries "racist".
Retail is sort of on life support after the COVID thing ripped through our country. Many people prefer just shopping online. I believe with the high inflation that people aren't shopping like they used to. We went to Wal-Mart this morning, and almost no one was there, something I have not seen ever in any Wal-Mart.
In store shopping is on a death spin, and maybe these closings were coming, but with the way they came, it was somehow a benefit for them.
When people whine that there are no stores in the area and then a couple appear, the idea is to take care of it. But, many people tend not to take care of things that are simply handed to them.
Retail places have been closing up in bad neighborhoods for decades. It was just a matter of time before it caught up to relatively nicer places.
Because more and more “relatively nicer places” are becoming “bad neighborhoods” due to people being enabled by democrat policies to behave like savages.

To oppose any of that would just open one up to being called a racist. And businesses are now more interested in satisfying the stock holders who are insisting on woke policies. So, yes, we have given up as a civil society.
I would say the USA is becoming more like a third world country. However they don't tolerate this nonsense in the third world. Go somewhere like the Philippines and there are successful malls and boutiques. They all have metal detectors and shotguns and will gun you down, without being sued. Goods are expensive and life is cheap. Thankfully we aren't like that but something has to be done. This will begin to affect our GDP soon.

We are a 2nd world nation now. Close to banana republic status, where elections are consistently called into question. That's why they came down so hard on anyone questioning the last election. That has to be snuffed out if a country is to pretend to be 1st world.
There are more people saying their lives are getting more difficult vs getting better. It's all just a matter of who they blame. Some blame Trump, some blame Biden, some blame black, brown, white people, etc.... But the overall trajectory is clear... If this were an aircraft, we would be losing altitude. If we were a ship, we'd be visiting the Titanic in a decade.
We can't afford to screw up the next election. The fate of our nation might depend on it. I sincerely hope the next election will be a fair and honest one that we can all stand behind as a nation, and feel confident that the right call has been made.
