How is recognizing that his African American son will face more challenges in life than his Caucasian son is “woke?” Racism is a fact in America. There is virtually nothing that I agree with Mike Johnson but for him to speak the truth regarding racism I have a sliver a respect for him.
For the record, people of African descent are treated better, and have more opportunity, in the USA than any other country on Earth. This, according to a Black College Dean who has traveled the world...not my words.

Democrats are going to have a tough time painting Johnson into the "extremist" corner, a point made by CNN left-wing political analyst Gloria Borger in the lead-up to the vote:

None of the Leftists really thought Mike Johnson had a chance of winning a unanimous vote by the Republicans to become Speaker …. But that’s exactly what happened. It’s a done deal now.
He won’t have an easy time of it, but he was probably always the best choice.
His participation in election denial isn’t too hard to dig up, it’s not very difficult to research all his right wing views on social issues.
He is essentially a much more likable version of Jim Jordan.
Any fascist election rigger will do, right OP? Of the nine candidates, only two are qualified to even serve in Congress nevermind serve as speaker of the House. Those two are Emmer and Scott. The others provided aid and comfort to insurrectionists after swearing an oath to uphold the Constitution so are therefore ineligible to hold public office at the state and federal levels. Before picking a speaker, the Republicans should join with the Democrats and expel the 139 constitutionally ineligible members from the House. Then they can pick a speaker among the true patriots who actually take their oath to protect and defend the Constitutional seriously.

Oh, have no doubt that Mike Johnson is a radical. He is a believer in Christian Dominion theology, the belief that Christians should have dominance in state and local government. But the 2024 election cycle is only a year away. Let him do his radical agenda and I predict the Millennial/Gen Z voter demographic will lead the way to flipping the House to the Dems.
