Then the solution is not to put the state into the position of cold blooded killing. The solution is to write (and enforce) laws that do not permit criminals out.
Nope, kill em and enforce the laws preventing other hard core criminals from ever seeing the light of day again.
And I'll also point out that sex offenders--especially the ones who've attacked children--are reviled in prison by everyone (including other sex offenders) and usually have to be placed in protective custody. They aren't even safe in protective custody because they still get into fights and get attacked by informants, former prison gang members, and high-profile prisoners.
Actually I would say not so fast to this. I was a criminal Justice Major in college and studyed with cops and corrections officers. Atleast here the perverts get sent to live with the other perverts. Do you think that one of them is going to attack another for the same type of crime? No. I for one say throw them in Gen Pop and let the other do what they want.
You say that you are in no way connected to the rape, and yes that is true. That's also true of the rest of the population other than the victim and the rapist. That being said, why should the rest of the population have a say in the punishment the rapist gets?? Shouldn't the victim have the ultimate say in the punishment since they are the victim and the only one affected by it? A rape isn't your normal mugging where you're just happy to be alive and unharmed. I can't imagine what it's like to go through a think like a rape, but hearing many women say they were suicidal after it is very disturbing. The rapists impact on the victim lasts a lot longer than the actual crime itself. It lasts a lot longer than whatever prison sentence they are given.
I've read many examples of people who were against the death penalty until they were the victims. I find this hypocritical.
We are not a society of individual retribution. We are a society of law and justice. Each individual does not get to exact revenge on a criminal. I do not know where this idea that we are a nation of vigilantes or gang members who take care of crime on our own. You treat the victim with all the care and help that you can provide, one issue. You put the perpetrator through the judicial process. They are two different processes.

if we were a society of law and justice, how come there are so many thousands of children being molested? Where is the law, and where is the justice...????? We're not talking about revenge...we're actually talking about not making crime pay any more. And guess what's going to happen if this stuff continues...no one will be safe...you mentioned gangs...look 5 or even 10 years into the future...and see what effects gangs could have on us without better laws, without bigger prisions and without the death sentence.
Our country is being overrun by gangs...did you know that...there is less respect for the law then there was yesterday.
They come here because they know they can get away with it, or get a free room and board in jail. Not to mention...do they still pay prisoners per day while in jail? I know they used to? Like an allowance or something?
Lets go about putting them through our Judical system only to have them come out and ruin another childs life. Or when they are found guilty of CHILD RAPE WE KILL THEM. Im sorry i dont understand how people can seem to be so lax when it comes to the punishment for some one who does something unimaginable to a child.
