I hate it when, say, I try to categorize a state as being the West, Midwest, South, etc, and people get all mad and say "you shouldn't generalize", like I was launching a personal attack. It's like how angry are you?

It's interesting to compare and contrast things, it doesn't mean you're some bigoted racist or have some agenda.

Does anyone else who likes to classify things get this from people?

Many Republicans get all pushed out of shape when accused of being in the bigot party but it is true.

I'm often accused of being anti-social, unamerican, backward, anti-intellectual, stupid, xenophobic, racist, and just plain 'no good' when I categorize people....but I always get the last laugh, because when they call ME "anti-social, unamerican, backward, anti-intellectual, stupid, xenophobic, racist, and just plain no good", then THEY are categorizing ME....so who's the bigot? .....

I'm a minority and almost all of my minority friends and all of my relatives are republican so I take offense to that. We include, teachers, lawyers, doctors, accountants and lots of middle class folk. Such a stupid statement!

As a minority, if you are not embarrassed to be a Republican than you are stupid.

If a person can't get a general idea about things, then how could they ever get a thorough idea about anything?

I think a "generalist" would be a person who never looks past the general and makes too many assumptions about things, I've done that in certain aspects of my life when my attention to detail "bone" was being used in other (and sometimes the wrong) areas of the things going on in my life.

I also think that sometimes people use

What do you think?

Ugh! A California social worker! No wonder. You're so compassionate, calling people bigots and stupid. You must be very successful.
