I don't have a problem with welfare what-so-ever. If people in America need food, housing or medical help...I think we should be able to provide them with the essentials. They problem is, along with the help, there needs to be an individual plan for that person to get out of the welfare program with a better job training program or online courses for a degree or anything that would help elevate them above the poverty level.
I don't consider this as socialistic....but a way for a country as grand as America to give all it's LEGAL citizens a chance at succeeding financially.
Just because is a socialist program it doesn't mean is evil. I haven't said is a bad program or just because is a socialist idea is bad. Some socialist ideas are food while some in my opinion are bad, just like in capitalism.
first it wast to you.
Second redistribution is wealth is part of the definition of socialism(you can check the links I have posted). So if welfare is redistribution of wealth is not re-defining anything
Welfare and Socialism have some things in common One of them is redistribution of wealth TO THE COMMUNITY. How does bailing out big coporations meet that criterion? Just because corporate bailouts use the same tool as socialism (taking tax money from people) does not make it socialism. Just as shooting road signs does not make it hunting just because it uses the tool of hunting. You define it by the result, not the means.
The difference between "welfare" and "socialism" is that Socialism redistributes all the wealth to all the people. Welfare redistributes some of the wealth to some of the people, in time of need.

yeah right, keep thinking that way...
So welfare is a softer socialism. How ever you want to put it.

And you favor a system that distributes none of the wealth to none of the people. Everybody gets what they "deserve", and deserves what they take---the only restriction is they can 't use a gun. Or rather, can't get caught using a gun.
You know what? You ought to check out the West African country of Gabon. Just the kind of economy you like. They have oil, timber and minerals, and their per capita GDP is higher than that of Brazil, Turkey or Thailand. But over 60% live on less than $1 a day. Your social and economic philosophy prevails, and the rich keep the wealth all to themselves. You could go there and have a nice villa on the beach, and you wouldn't have to worry about people making a dollar a day getting any more than that of your hard-erned money. And all your friends at the local country club would be fabulously weathy, so you'd never have to insulate yourself from the lazy and undeserving riff-raff.

Yes and no.
I think some welfare is good. But not a plain check on the mail!!!
I think we already have to much welfare.
Is a system where a lot of people abuse.

Please dont compare Africa countries with the US.
Here we have middle class.
Also, we have universities to help people.
I am a doctor, I worked to get where I am. WITHOUT WELFARE.

You never did a hard day's work in your life. You have never worked for an hour as hard as people in Gabon work all day, every day of their lives for $3 a day, the current minimum wage. Did you work your way through medical school cutting hardwoot timber and hauling it out of th ejungle without machinery? Did you work unerground in a manganese mine swinging picks and pushing rail cars full of ore by hand. with no safety precautions of any kind?

You should be delighted, then, that welfare has been in steady decline in this country for a couple of decades. Don't rock the boat.
