i think this is a fair question to ask, especially in light of obama saying that we need to be giving more. he gave less than the average person to charity, at 1% before he started releasing his taxes, and then was up to 6% after releasing his tax returns. (that also includes the chunk that he gives to his famous church). further, does he have the right to take american taxpayer money to redistribute it to other countries, particularly his interest in sub-saharan africa?

There is a major difference between investment and redistribution . Money spent on education anywhere is better than money given to a corporate bottom line.

Why is Obama being singled out for redistributing wealth? Every politician does this. Government is all about redistribution of wealth!

Yeah, i agree.

The subject and question is sort of a misnomer.

Question is weird. It makes it sound like Obama is personally going to go door-to-door handing out money.

Government has the right to redistribute your money. I think it's called taxes. I think they pay for everything and go everywhere.

My money is being redistributed to bomb Iraq. I don't approve. But there you have it, I still pay my taxes.

My money is being redistributed to help rebuild New Orleans. Okay. Nobody's tax money is going to help rebuild my house if it burns down, but okay.

My money is being redistributed to pay for the care of military veterans. Okay. Great. Do you they want more money? I'm well-off. I have more money. Go ahead, give it to the vets. I'll skip the fancy hotel and stay at the regular one on my next vacation.

See?

I have a question for the conservatives - My annual federal taxes are approx. $ 14,400. My annual total cost of rent is exactly $ 14,400. But guess what ! My average return from the federal government has been just about $ 600 out of $ 14,400 collected annually. Where has my money been going if you would care to explain?

Spreading the wealth....................

I think Adolph Hitler and Karl Marx both got into office by promising pretty much the same thing. We all know how well those blind efforts turned out.
