There are probably just as many non-christian catholics as there are non-christian protestants, if you ask me.
I'm one of the few christians (quite conservative, I may add) who is indifferent toward religion. While my gut would feel weird voting for an atheist, my rational sense says that I'm looking for an able administrator, not a pastor.
If it came down to a muslim and a christian, and I thought the muslim would do a better job, I'd pick the muslim. The presidency is not a bishopric, nor should it be.
Does it count that we've had a Catholic President (John Kennedy), and two Quakers (Herbert Hoover and Richard Nixon)? What we have yet to do is elect a President who is Jewish, an adherent of Islam, Hindu, LDS, Buddhist, etc. ...
If he wasn't Christian, what was all the hoopla over his CHRISTIAN PASTOR, REVEREND WRIGHT? Make up your minds with the slander...I feel sorry for people who are stupid enough to actually think this way.
I'm not asking for you to be a smart alec, so can you remove the attitude for just a moment?
Part of my point is that I repeatedly hear about how going to church doesn't make somebody a Christian.
So Obama has been going to CHURCH for 20 years, and that DOES make him a Christian?
See where I'm coming from?
