Here's a novel thought. Why not let companies, regardless of their owner's race or gender, bid competitively on the jobs, and the most qualified for the best money would get the job. I am shocked that someone would trust the construction of our infrastructure to people who can be "trained relatively quickly."

As a white male skilled construction worker it does my heart good to know I'll be driving on roads and across bridges built by untrained, unskilled, people ...

You know this was the same thinking in reverse as what happened in the housing crisis. They thought low income would buy homes and it would help them build wealth. What really happened is they found the lowest monthly payments (which is not separated from the highest interest rates) and created their own salary numbers guided by greedy manipulative lenders. In this case though they take that irresponsibility into consideration and remove the lender. Those with the least financial knowledge now aren't being pushed anymore to save but to spend. The real question (if the spending works) is will it move back to trying to get them to save again or will it move to educating them so they understand why saving is important.

Guys, guys, actually instead of white male construction workers, they'll probably be giving the jobs to all the Al Queda guys they so desperately wanted to free from Gitmo.

OMG if a Repub had said anything about black male ANYTHING not getting something, the liberal mobs would be lighting their torches and grabbing their pitchforks. But since it was a Dem discussing social engineering and wealth redistribution, and the diss was directed toward white males, no big deal. Business as usual for the libs.

Question? What about mixed race construction groups? My brother has worked construction for 2 decades now, always with small companies, and always with people of different races. So should his black co-workers be entitled to some Obamamoney and he just has to forget about it? 4 years of this kind of crap is on the way. Same crap, different day. I guess change doesn't necessarily mean improvement.

Yes, bush's policy of giving money to rich white guys on wall street was really trickling down to main street.

I am braced for the spin and panic. Repubs have been throwing around 'marxist" and "socialist" since obama won the election.

The right wing media are experiencing quite a rally with Obama's taking office. It is quite a boon for them. Lots of stories to twist and spin, and lots of hungry consumers.

I think it is obama derangement syndrome.

I'm serious ...

6 months from now most of the Obama supporters will be scratching their head wondering why they voted for this guy.

48 hours in and it's a total failure.

Unbelievable, this man thinks he's 3 presidents in 1. OMG.

There is absolutely nothing racist or anti-white about what he said. He simply suggested that not ALL money go to white males. He pointed out the construction industry because the companies and unions are notoriously racist and exclusionary.
