if your children were imprisoned without charge and a fair trial and the government decided to move them from a prison in alaska to a prison in delaware, what difference would that make?
i don't really understand the significance other than the obvious pr/spin!

Because everyone deserves the chance at a fair trial. That's the point. Innocent until proven guilty.

They should get a fair trial. I do believe they will get a fair trial under Obama. If we continue to treat them like scum, it only serves to help bolster the ranks of terrorists. If they are actual terrorists, the government should have no problem in showing the proof in a court of law.

i agree, they should get a fair trial. i don't think they will though. it annoys me that they're using the closure of gitmo as a pr exercise and not talking about the real issue, the prisoners.
as far as i'm concerned, gitmo is irrelevant. what concerns me is that we are imprisoning people without charge in 'the land of the free'

Closing gitmo I believe was more of a symbolic move than anything else. Showing that we'll no longer violate the human rights of anyone that is suspected of terrorism. Gitmo was a black mark, and closing it helps heal from that bad move.
