I thought California and New York were the biggest handout states?.....don't they vote LIBERAL? Do you have any proof to back up your statement? Links?

Yes, all it proves is that there are a number of poor in the red states and that they probably vote Dem because they are getting help from other states because of the welfare

in chielgirl's case, she seems to hate America and it's military. She claims to have served in the military but this hippie girl can't seem to post positive things about our military without going on another negative rant against them.
I don't see where America is glorifiying the "white trash culture". I do see them trying to glorify the gansta hip/hop culture which is as bad or worse than the so called white trash culture. I'd like someone to define the "white trash culture" without being an elitest bigotted snob.

After having wasted 15 minutes of my life reading this thread, I have one question:
What in the name of God is wrong with you people?
Some of us suffer from "serious issues". Some (like yourself, apparently), only dropped in out of curiosity. A few of us really WANT a discussion, while a number just want to tease....a few are hard to figure, as they're nearly illiterate......and there's ONE who is just plain stark, raving insane.
Why do you ask?
Perhaps what you're alluding to here is the huge 'nose dive' we took back in the 60's. Along with some of the "good" liberation that happened then (civil rights; women's rights; a general 'loosening' of restrictions) there was also a vast "liberation" from shame, guilt, social stigma, and personal accountability. In just a few short years, we went from "what will the NEIGHBORS say ?" (regarding our behavior) to "who the hell CARES what the neighbors say ?"
During all this, America's 'social culture' took a HUGE turn for the coarse, the uncouth, and the vulgar. Movies, Books, and TV shows celebrated the "let it ALL HANG out" freedom from 'embarassment' we all experienced...and as as result, "white trash"...(and NON-white trash, as well) suddenly became, if not "respectable", at least good for a 'laugh'.
