I personally think both sound like a great idea, and here's another one. Get a job! If you don't work, then you can't recieve any assistance. The main thing your missing is that the welfare system wasn't set up as a cash cow for the lazy. It was set up to help people short term to pull them selves up by their own boot straps! I say after one year you lose your welfare. This would motivate alot of people wouldn't it? Except the elderly and truely disabled, they deserve help!

Hmmm...how about every man that fathers two children and can't support them gets "fixed?" Yeah...that sounds good, too. Why do you always jump on the "welfare MOTHERS"?

Be careful what you wish for when you start bulldozing people's rights. Lose your job or health benefits and you could be the next one in line for having your kids taken away.

it's funny how they dont mind govt intervention into other people's lives, and they're glad to pay the tax costs, for the payoff of exacting some sicko revenge.

Yeah, make them report to work after they leave the dr's office for their 6 week check-up! How are you supposed to work with a tiny baby? Even in the socialist countries like Sweden, where everyone has to work to pay the taxes to fund the programs, new moms get a year off, because child care for these kids is exhorbitantly expensive.

Wow, the Queen's English in day to day use, I commend you.

Dear, I have got to go pick up the kids from after school child care at the
Young Men's Christian Association of Boulder Valley. We Californians just call it the Y to save some time

Wow. Your over the top-hostile reply reminds me of a Simpsons episode exchange.

HOMER: (meekly) Um...could I have [my beer] in a...clean glass?

BARTENDER: Ohhhhh! But of course, Your Majesty!!!!

Mindless

- Reel
Not sure I understand your post. Are you saying I'm "mindless" because people are using stereotypes here, assuming any woman who gets government assistance is lazy, has too many kids, and probably is screwing around so she needs forced birth control?

As I wrote before, why can the men just zip it up and walk away? How about castrating all the men who father a child out of wedlock by more than one woman and doesn't support them?

I'm guessing that many (not all) of the people who approve of this are pro-life. Sure, makes sense. Force someone to have a baby, but when it's born say to the mother "Hey, you had it, so you feed & clothe it. Ain't our problem!

I've never taken a dime and, believe me, I get very angry at the fraud and abuse by those who suck our Welfare pot dry. However, the OP wasn't specific, so I had to respond to what I read. There was no mention of this person having a job or a special needs child. Some women work full time jobs and can't support their families. So does that mean they should get mandatory injections because they're getting Food Stamps? That's a form of Welfare. I don't like my taxes going to people with widescreen TVs and camera phones either, but as I said, we can't put every person who gets assistance into one category. Sometimes the same people who don't want to share are the first who ask for help when they're in a jam. It isn't socialism to make sure that children get to eat 2 healthful meals a day. It's just the right thing to do.

just a footnote: On another thread, a CD member argued with me that Food Stamps are paid for by the State. Not true. Just because a Welfare Program is State Regulated, doesn't mean the money doesn't come from the Federal Government. In fact, out of the many low income assistance programs, it's the one that gets most of the money from our federal taxes. So, of course, I care about wasteful spending. I just don't think women get pregnant to get larger welfare checks. I know a lot of lazy bums who don't have any children at all!

What does that have to do with anything? Lesbians get pregnant, too.
