So police should be free to beat a man based on his record, not what he's doing at that time or beat him period? I seriously doubt you marched for civil rights.

Assuming that he did indeed kill either of the two people, he deserved to be convicted and jailed.
He had not been convicted of any crime when the police brought him into trial. I didn't know police officers in America were supposed to severely beat suspects before trial. In other countries, such as totalitarian dictatorships, this is accepted procedure. In America, I thought, this was not legal conduct.
I find it really unsettling that it's still so easy for a White woman to claim harm from Black attackers and the public accepts it hook, line , and sinker. I wonder how many men in Philadelphia were shaken down by police for this incident.
This has been perpetrated by a woman murdering her kids and a Boston man disposing of his pregnant wife. Both cases prompted subsequent arrests and releases of supposed Black attackers. Sad how quickly we give in to racial profiling even today.
The simple fact is that many White women(since the time of slavery and even before) know that all it takes to enrage of White men; to heighten the sense of endangerment or to deflect attention from their own misdeeds; all it takes are the words "A Black Man robbed me/raped me/ stole from me..." to rally White men to save them from the Black brutes.
Its not even racist...its beyond racist. Many types of White women are guilty of this phenomenom of using Black men as the scapegoat (liberals, hippies, and the enlightened elite are no exception). The fear of Black sexuality(male Blacks) was one of the main catalysts to the formation of the Ku Klux Klan. The cammpaign to "protect" White Womanhood was paramount.
During slavery (and following its demise) and before interracial relationships were more widely excepted, White women would claim rape when they were caught indulging in sexual exploration with Black men...even to the point were Black men were lynched as a result. Emmitt Till (a young Black boy) was murdered for whistling at a White woman.
Any way you slice it, the problem will always be that White women know that they will always have the power to do what this woman did.
