Until recently, with the high unemployment and scarcity of jobs, no....our workers have not been willing to do the work the migrant/illegal workers have been doing.
This has been going on for some years.
Nobody really cared because none of our citizens would work at some of these physically strenuous jobs even at minimum wage
NOW.....all of a sudden, Americans say they are willing. And when their unemployment benefits run out.....when new high school grauates can't even get a job "flipping burgers".......maybe they'd take one at 'any wage' but our laws of minimum wage may still prevent it.
'We' gave it away and now want it back but unless the employers are willing(or forced by a lack of illegals or fines) to meet minimum wage, it will take more than just a change of heart to change things........or a reversal of the minimum wage laws
Is America ready for that?
