Not exactly, but close to it. If you wanted to claim for instance that Schumer played it a little too cozy with Wall Street, and that he might have used his influence to exert some backward wake-up pressure on them, I could go along with that. But this travesty that we now have to deal with arose from the dismal economic policies of a Republican President, aided and abetted by a Republican Congress, plus the blind policies of laissez-faire regulators at the Fed, SEC, etc., and the simple greed and hubris of a bunch of fat-cat Republican brokers and bankers whose interest in short-term mega-money outweighed all others.

As you may remember, because of persistent obstructionism by Senate Republicans, it was difficult for Democrats to get things of significance done in the 110th Congress. They did, however, get an actual GSE reform bill passed. It was not the one that Republicans wanted, so it took until July 2008 to get it through, but that would still leave 12 years of Republican-controlled Congresses in which zero GSE reform was enacted, and then just 18 months of a Democratic-controlled Congress before a deal got done. Who do you think was sitting around and watching it happen?

Well, let's see...the contemptible toadie O'Reilly had spent 98% of the last segment Frank agreed to do shamelessly yelling and screaming and calling the Congressman a liar and a coward. Such uncivil and disrespectful behavior is rarely seen in the rudest of circumstances. Frank has all the permission he needs from me to be as condescending toward the little pipsqueak as he likes.

That's probably why other heads of state come up and ask Obama for his autograph.

But speaking of stupid, how 'bout that "Axis of Evil" speech...

Kim Jong Il: Axis of evil? Fire up the nuclear reactor, boys!!! We gots to make us some bombs!!!

Somehow, I don't think that a plan that has that listed as Step One has much of a chance of succeeding...

Hey, thanks for noticing! Something I've noticed is that the illegals get up every day and work hard all day long to help make America a better, stonger, cleaner, safer place for everybody. Today's Republicans don't do any such thing as that. They get up and cry and whine and say "NO!" a lot. They have become a net drain on our society at this point, so if we are going to start deporting people, they are the ones who will need to go first. Have a nice trip...
