He's the man!!! He's accomplished more than any complaining, ***** here ever has. Get a life. He will always be remembered, and loved. So to those who hate him, go **** yourselves. Your type is a dying breed anyways. You racists!! He's done more than most entertainers, and it shows. He has a worldwide fan base. All colors, cultures, races, and various age groups. Congress saw it fit for him to get a moment of silence, so be it. Get a life, or a job!!

By the way, one of the accusers who said he molested him, said it was a lie. Go check these facts. Enough of your hatred already. You ****s find things to complain about all day. Get a life.

There's more to life, than hiding behind your PCs to complain about politics, ethnic groups, etc....The trend of other groups progressing is not going to stop, whether you like or not. Either get with the times, or bite the dust.

None of this is being done for Michael Jackson. He OD'd, he benefits in no way.

It's done because it gives certain people camera time and it's pop entertainment, it takes peoples' minds of their problems and the lack of leadership in Congress.

They're coming right out and admitting that all this pomp and circus of the funeral is helping the economy of Los Angeles very nicely.

I liked Michael BUT

While the focus today, tomorrow and for the next God-knows-how-many-days will be the death of a pop culture icon; while many will mourn, wail and quite literally make fools of themselves over it and while as many will speak endlessly about it, allow me, if only for a moment, to remind us all that others have died this month; others whose lives were cut short; others who leave behind loved ones and whose families will dearly miss them; families who'll suffer with much more dignity and honor than we'll be exposed to on the tube in the coming days.

Yes... it's true... we've suffered a great loss... but forgive me while I tell you that I'm not talking about the king of pop music.

These American military members died in Iraq this month:

Sergeant Justin J. Duffy
Specialist Christopher M. Kurth
Specialist Charles D. Parrish
Lance Corporal Robert D. Ulmer
Staff Sergeant Edmond L. Lo
Sergeant Joshua W. Soto
Captain Kafele H. Sims
Specialist Chancellor A. Keesling

And these members of our U.S. Armed Forces died in Afghanistan this month:

Sergeant Jones, Ricky D.
Specialist Munguia Rivas, Rodrigo A.
Command Master Chief Petty Officer Garber, Jeffrey J.
1st Sergeant Blair, John D.
Sergeant Smith, Paul G.
Staff Sergeant Melton, Joshua
Sergeant 1st Class Dupont, Kevin A.
Specialist O'Neill, Jonathan C.
Chief Warrant Officer Richardson Jr., Ricky L.
Specialist Silva, Eduardo S.
Lance Corporal Whittle, Joshua R.
Major Barnes, Rocco M.
Major Jenrette, Kevin M.
Staff Sergeant Beale, John C.
Specialist Jordan, Jeffrey W.
Specialist Griemel, Jarrett P.
Specialist Hernandez I, Roberto A.
Sergeant Obakrairur, Jasper K.
Staff Sergeant Hall, Jeffrey A.
Private 1st Class Ogden, Matthew D.
Private 1st Class Wilson, Matthew W.

Let's remember and honor this day those whose deaths are truly impacting.

God rest them and God comfort their loved ones they've left behind.

And may God use their deaths to remind us all of the shortness of our days.

I bet you believe in the farcical notion of "reverse racism", and you voted for the village idiot...TWICE.

If you don't think it's a good idea to honor MJ in this way, and you are not a fan of MJ, then what was done was the RIGHT thing.

Michael Jackson is the greatest performer ever, and don't you forget it either.

Why do military people feel that military deaths are the only ones which deserve recognition by our government ?

Isn't it possible that other people deserve recognition for their lifetime contributions within their respective professions?

Why not just start a new thread about recent deaths in the military, rather than using this one, which is supposed to be about the death of Michael Jackson?

BECAUSE some idiots in Congress sunk to the level of Beavis and Butthead/TV reality shows/Jerry Springer by having a moment of silence in Congress for a rich-spoiled freaky pop star....TOTALLY INAPPROPRIATE!

CONGRESS is NOT the place for it.

LA, city of gangbangers and stars is the correct place!

Let's put the pin back in the grenade shall we...

So anyone who didn't like Michael Jackson was a racist? We need to get a life? You're posting your emotional meltdown at 2:30 AM over a guy who didn't even know you existed. I can see you're really taking this hard, try clicking your heels together three times while singing "We are the World" and maybe you'll magically appear in Neverland...and if we're lucky, never to be heard from again.

I've often thought about all of the wasted lives of the soldiers that were killed in Iraq. The people that were already in the armed forces when Bush started this bogus war had no choice other than going AWOL, but the people that enlisted afterwards are the ones that have questionable motives. I suppose many voluteered out of necessity for an income. I agree that they gave their lives for the enrichment of Bush/Cheney& Co. They certainly did not save us from Saddams's WMD's or Al Qaeda.

So as not to go totally off topic, Thanks for the memories and your unique talent MJ...Happy Trails.

I do not see what his fans see, I do not acknowledge his talents, which I think are limited and drastically improved by others (songwriters, record producers, dance coreographers) that were paid for their talents.

I acknowledge little of his contribution to the music industry, most of it negative in terms of inspiring the souless, mindless, mechanical, over-produced drivel of pop dance music that we hear in the Ashley Simpson's and Britney Spears' of today.

His music was made to appeal to the masses, which is a commercial, not an artistic, achievement. But when it comes to commercial merit you must applaud the engineers, not the artists. And Michael was not the engineer to his music. Those people are the record producers, the musicians, the mixers, the video directors - those people are "Michael Jackson".

The one who died was a recluse junkie with an identity problem, to name just some of the issues he had.
