Or can they? Yep. No problem, attack fireworks. That's a good proxy. It's the esthetics, you know. Scott Lemieux hates 'em. Freaking boring. And he gets a big rah rah from ... wait for it ... Matthew Yglesias! At least you can catch a good party! Their inspiration is Slate (where else), "Fireworks Suck: They Really Do."
I don't like fireworks. A lot of noise. Scares my animals.(scares small children too)

I love being an American today. But, my feelings about independence day are a little different because my family was NOT free that day. Took almost 200 more years for that to become a reality. Just like that bogus Columbus Day and Thanksgiving for that matter.
Living in the past is not very "progressive" now is it?
