Blame the administration for being too short-sighted to realize that removing Saddam would create a power vacuum that Iran would try to fill. The administration royally screwed this up and there's simply no way to fix it. Iran will have influence. We can't stop that.
Terrorists can "set up shop" anywhere. It's not like there's a lack of real estate on this planet. The argument that the use of Iraqi real estate could increase terrorism is fallicious. The can already use Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Who cares if they can use Iraq, too?
First off you combing multiple and irrelevant issues together that have nothing to do with the current communal civil war of which we cannot stop or contain.
As for Iran, it is mind numbing that the administration didn’t take into account that empowering the Shia majority in Iraq would be buddies with their Shia neighbors, Second, while their relationship is a concern, statements based on the fear mongering propaganda of Bush and his counterpart in Iran is not the strongest foundation for the political fate of the Middle East.
Muslim countries (except Turkey which has a secular government) can't function at all without a dictator who rules by fear and force.
Do you know what they can't function? Because the US overthrows them! The US wants to control the resources in the region. A peaceful democratic government would never allow that. Only corrupt dictators would sell their country out to the US. So, that's who the US installs. The situations where there are dictators unfriendly to the US, that's a reaction to US foreign policy. It's about survival.
This thing has been over for some time now and we need to leave.
As anyone with even an ounce of common sense can now see, invading Iraq was a mistake of massive proportions. This whole endeavor has been a HUGE strategic victory for Iran. Not only have we taken out their biggest check in the region and basically allowed the installation of an Iranian client state, we have become so isolated internationally we no longer have the diplomatic capital or international credibility to stand up to Iran's increasing belligerence. Most countries in the world rank the US as more dangerous than Iran and North Korea. Horrible situation.
We need to leave and let the chips fall where they may. The likely situation is, of course, a regional war with Iran and it's minions fighting against Sunni groups backed by Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Jordon. There will be many AQ members in this war but for the short term they will be busy fighting Iran. After the war, depending on the outcome, we can then deal with the aftermath. But, not one more American should die for this disaster in Iraq!
This foreign policy blunder of epic proportions is and will be the legacy of the dimwitted hayseed that currently occupies the White House.

Not at all. We won (period) Reid, and his stupid comment is so fallacious it's unbelievable. What we're in now is a police job in that country. I do believe we should finish "mopping up" and get out though.

Oh I agree. I would have ARMED Saddan even more to blast Iran back to the stone age. Iran is 100x worse than Iraq any day. The Iranian radicals are 100x more violent and more barbaric than anything we have seen in Iraq yet. They are the real problem. At least Saddam was not saying he would Nuke Israel or provide wepaons to terrorist groups, as Iran has been saying for years. Syria is another problem, but Syria is at least trying to stay out of trouble lately.
I am just upset we are bogged down in Iraq, as we should be freed up from that by now and blasting Iran back to the stone age. Things in Iraq have began to improve, no doubt about that!
Yes, the administration totally messed up and should have blasted the terrorists in Iraq from the very begining and sealed the border with Iran, to keep the bombs and wepaons out. They messed that up and are trying to fix it. But now things are certainly getting better. Slowly but surely.
My only question is: can the US seal the Iraq-Iran border since the US cannot seal our OWN border with Mexico where millions of illegal alines, illegal guns, and drugs get into our country?

There never WERE any WMDs, so does that mean we won the war before it even started? I guess you could say there was no reason to go to war!
