The mayor is one of the largest reasons for the chief's policies.

Several important cases have been discussed on the open carry forum regarding not just WI but other states, sometimes before the media picks up on them. An important place for the open carry movement. Read through and you'll find why the mayor is not well liked. We will have incorporation of the second amendment within a few years, perhaps less time, and the chief and mayor may find themselves convicted felons under the Civil Rights Act for a conspiracy to deprive people under color of law their rights.

Actually, the mayor is very well-liked. And let's see some actual articles where the mayor expressed what you're talking about, yes? Considering my father who's well read & a libertarian is unhappy w/the police chief, I think I'll stick w/my original post. I'm hoping he runs for governor, he'd definitely win. I also think it's pretty screwed up of you & some others on here to have the twisted mindset about this attack that you've been only too happy to express.

What exactly did that article say? He wants tougher gun laws, he wants to get the guns off the streets. Yeah, that's simply an awful idea. As far as the whole "we're gonna take the guns off of people", that is the police chief that said that, I don't know how many more times I need to say that.

He doesn't want people open carrying, he doesn't even want people to own guns. And disarming the law abiding is an awful idea, and one that should land him in jail or slapped with a hefty lawsuit eventually.

Mayor Tom Barrett for Milwaukee - Issues

Where does he say he doesn't want people to own guns?? And why the heck are you even concerned about it, he's not the one who passes legislation or any of that. You'll be headed to alaska soon where you can stock up on guns galore, which you can do now I might add so I'm not sure where all this paranoia about guns is coming from.

Lets face the reality here. If the mayor had been carrying a gun and had bothered to do some training there is a good chance that his assalants would have been defeated. That said simply carrying a gun that you don't practice with will not help you. Not really. This is where many gun owners get into trouble. I know guys just like that. They will make statements like " I don't need Karate I have Smith&Wesson"
Yeah too bad they barely know how to load it let alone use it. Add to this the fact most will hesitate to pull the trigger. Most in combat for their first time are too paniced to remember what little they do know. That is also reality.
I don't believe in infringing upon anyones 2nd amendment rights. A good many drivers are barely able to control their vehicle and yet we hear very few calls for and laws that would infringe on drivers. How many die each year in automobile related deaths?

You mean his assailant (singular) would be dead.

In combat? He was in a parking lot.

There are TONS of laws that "infringe on drivers." There's a whole book at the DMV teeling you what you can and can't do with your car. They're registered, regulated, tested, taxed and provide an essential part of our economy. Without the automobile (and trucks) and our "socialist" highway system, our economy would be for squat. Do you need a gun to get to work?

The mayor was in a heavily populated public parking lot filled with people leaving or coming to a very large public event. The attacker was right in front of a woman and a baby. And in THAT area, under THOSE conditions, you would have the mayor open fire????????????????????????????? Are you all insane????????????? Your judgement is the best arguement for tighter gun control.
