saying he didn't receive a fair trial is not the same as saying he should be freed. personally, i think he did it, but at the same time his trial was a joke and i don't support the death penalty, period.
a lot of his supporters go for the more catchy "free mumia" slogan, to their detriment. of course, a lot of them think he's innocent. but that doesn't mean that everyone who thinks he needs a new trial thinks he should be freed.
i don't think there is anyone out there, outside the true fringe, saying "hey this guy killed a cop but let's let him go anyway". they either think he deserves to be in jail but needs a retrial, or think he didn't do it and should be freed.
Yes, these rats tend to go underground to do their dirty work.
