I do not think that it becomes irrelevant. I don't agree with indoctrinating kids in any church, school etc.
I also do not think that Obama is the first president being praised in a public education system. I also do not think that kids in other western countries have never praised their president.
As I said, I disagree with praising anybody. Even God. Why should kids be taught to praise God if the cannot comprehend God/religion at that young age?
Do you disagree with that as well?
What I don't like about the thread is the connection with Hitler Youth. Kids were sent to Hitler Youth to be prepared for war. You might check that for yourself. I think the thread starter and his/her supporters are using this as propaganda which was part of Hitlers strategy as well. Calling Obama Hussein, like one did in this thread, is propaganda as well. If you do what you criticize, that is hypocritical.
"Kids were sent to Hitler Youth to be prepared for war."
It was billed as preparation for "service to the nation" (Have a familiar ring to it?) in the Sturmabteilung (SA) or "brown shirts".
Wasn't billed as preparation for war since the SA was a strictly paramilitary organization.
"At your command, my Führer, stands here a youth -- a youth that does not know class and caste. Behind you, follows the young generation of our people. Because you are the greatest example of unselfishness in this nation, this young generation wants to be unselfish too. Because you embody the concept of fidelity for us, we want to be faithful too. Adolf Hitler the leader of the German youth and people."
That class and Hitler Youth have nothing in common. The clip shows one class singing a song about Obama.
I do not think kids should praise anybody, but I also strongly disagree with comparing that to Hitler Youth. I am from Europe, and I bet I know much more about the Nazis than the person who made this connection.
Also, calling Obama Hussein all the time is propaganda. Why don't you say anything against that?
People can disagree with the politics of someone, but that propaganda nonsense is out of control.
Never said or meant Hitler anything. That's the left. Congrats on your knowledge on Hitler. I've never used the presidents middle name. Drawing attention to Hussein is meaningless.
We OK now?
The UN has suggested that scientists that publicly doubt what amounts to the Gore view on global warming are guilty of criminal negligence. The next logical step would be prosecution. A bit more subtle than Hitler. In his later days anyway.
Have you read my entire post? It seems like you did not. I agree with you that kids should not praise anybody. But that goes for churches as well. Why? Parents can keep their kids out of churches, but what about those crazy super-religious people that force their kids to be religious just as they are, at an age when kids cannot make a decision whether they want to be religious or not?
And, my video showed that Bush was being praised at the church. He is not God. Do you agree with parents that send their kids to those camps?
Again, you must have missed the "one nation under God" part.
You are free to despise organized religion and may do as you please with your children, but what others choose to do on Sunday is none of your business.
No difference between the two?
Parents passing on their values to their children
as opposed to the worship of a cult personality.
Explanation is futile.
First, I am not a "leftie". I have christian family members, that does not make me a Christian. He is not muslim, calling him Hussein is plain ignorant.

I'm wildly against the Obama praising, but it's my business if they're a tax exempt organization prohibited from making political statements in congregation.
oh my gosh!!! I GOT CHILLS ALL OVER MY BODY! THAT IS S-I-C-K. IF THAT WERE MY CHILD, I'D BE IN THAT SCHOOL OFFICE SO FAST THEIR HEADS WOULD SPIN OFF THEIR BODIES. SOMETHING HAS TO GIVE, OBAMA NEEDS TO GO BACK TO WHEREVER THE HELL HE CAME FROM, PERHAPS HE SHOULD HEAD ACORN. I'M FURIOUS NOW. THANKS OP FOR RUINING MY MORNING!! JUST KIDDING.....I'M FORWARDING THIS VIDEO TO MY FRIENDS/FAMILY RIGHT NOW. SO THEY CAN BE NAUSEATED ALL DAY TOO....

Did Hitler officially say Hitler Youth is preparation for war? Of course not.
Did Hitler officially say he is goint to kill everybody that is not Arian?
Did Germans whose jewish neighboors were deported knew where they were deported to?
Most Germans found out after war what has happened in the concentration camps.
Here from wikipedia, that is exactly what I learned in my history class:
(you can also check some lexica if you don't trust wiki or my experience in school):
The HJ were viewed as future "Aryan supermen" and were indoctrinated in anti-Semitism. One aim was to instill the motivation that would enable HJ members, as soldiers, to fight faithfully for the Third Reich. The HJ put more emphasis on physical and military training than on academic study.[3] The Nationalsozialistischer Reichsbund für Leibesübungen (NSRBL), the umbrella organization promoting and coordinating sport activities in Germany during the Nazi period, had the responsibility of overseeing the physical fitness development programs provided to the German youth.[4]
