Doesn't surprise me.

America is a racist country.

It's ironic, one member of the Apartheid regime in South Africa actually said in the early 1960's that he wished his country had the same laws as the US deep-South.

You can't have a country that encouraged and profitted from racism for well over a century, change in the short term.

Sure, maybe that is the case. But if it's not? Then what, will you find some sort of justification for it? I don't justify those Bush signs although to be honest I never saw any.

The USA engendered racism and the country profitted from racism.
For well over a century.
Nominally racism only ended in 1960's.
