LOL Needless to say, I kept my Gold AmEx (put all my monthly expenditures on it and pay it off each month.) I seriously could not find a worthy cost/benefit to switch to the Platinum card.
I'm a little clueless here but what is the difference (other than the ridiculous annual fee you quoted) between the gold and platinum? I refuse to sign up for any card with an annual fee.

What's a "black card" and why on earth would ANYONE pay that ridiculous annual fee for the "priviledge" of having one?

Apparently the travel privileges/points accrual system is alot more aggressive. It was appealing, but not $425 worth of appeal.

It's a status symbol card supposedly offered to only 1% of the population. There is no credit limit.

I don't give a rat's a$$ about any of that if I have to pay $500 a year to posess it .

I dont see in your posting where you backed up your argument that it was about encouraging responsibility. Your posting quotes Obama saying it was to lessen the burden of interest, not about responsibility...

Because conservatives posted time and time again that the ONLY possible outcome from the obama legislation would be higher fees, and you guys all said we were crazy. Stop being dishonest and admit you were wrong..
You seem to think that the fact that life isnt black and white/seeing all sides = dishonest; no wonder you're so constantly angry. Usurious credit card rates and fees retard spending. We need people to be able to spend. But if rates are high people will think twice about using credit cards. = encourages responsible fin mgmt decisions.

See?

Since you like to go looking for my posts, please fetch and carry back the one where I said "you guys are crazy". (Concerning credit cards.)

The Congress should hide their heads in shame, this Act does not set a Federal usury limit, without that it is meaningless

Reminder that this legislation takes effect tomorrow.. But I just heard an interesting fact. Business credit cards are not protectedby the changes. odd.. Why would business cards be exempt?

Another perfect example of the unintended (some might say intended) consequences of liberal ideas - they NEVER turn out the way they are supposed to and it is always to the detriment of the American people.

Default For a bunch of bootstrappy self-starting libertarian entrepeneurs

- there sure is a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth.

You signed on the dotted line, knowing full well that the bank could change terms unilaterally, right?

I wouldn't hold your breath if you have a CitiBank card. Chances are, your rate increase is on its way. The only thing that I can think of that may delay an increase to your card is if you used the card often and they actually do make money off of you. I rarely carry a balance, so they never really made a whole lot off of me anyway. My guess is that they see the risk of me closing the account due to an increase in interest a worthwhile venture.
I use Citi and my statement says that for purchases my APR is 16.99 but if I make a late payment... it will go up to 29.99.

There may have been an error made by them concerning your account.
