The latest Army statistics show a stunning 75 percent of military-age youth are ineligible to join the military because they are overweight, can't pass entrance exams, have dropped out of high school or had run-ins with the law.

Basic training does wonders at getting kids into shape.
I didn't hear of anybody getting turned away from the military for being obese, only if they had other health problems. If after basic you still couldn't pass a physical training test, then maybe you would be discharged.
Don't get me wrong, I think kids are way to fat, but it isn't like they are turning away every kid that has a bit of a belly. Hell, the military is good for them, and they will find themselves in the best shape of their life after enlisting.

If nobody can be sent to war...maybe it will stop....seems to be the only way....
The idea, concept, and expectation that war or violence between different factions of people will ever "end", shows your naitivity. Lets play in reality, and discuss things that actually CAN happen instead of living in fantasy land and basing our opinions on some utopian dream which is unattainable.
Maybe unfit for a "voulnteer" army but they would get snapped up if a general draft if a knock down drag out war was underway. Army boot camp can take care of the fat guys real quick. The enemy weeds out the dumb and uneducatable. Artillery takes care of the rest. Fragmentation shells do not discriminate.

Then we would be open for an invasion from those nations and peoples who are our enemies. Such people do not respect wimpy wishy washy diplomacy. They respect power and authority.

Historically speaking, those civilizations that have been unable to defend themselves have been conquered and/or absorbed.
War is ugly. Colonization is worse. Just ask the Native Americans.
