Well I am betting atleast 40% of the colored people are racists. Stories like this arent going to make the problem better either. I know the race thing is front and center this year but it is really getting old.

During the post-Katrina cleanup, I lived in tent, and subsequently a trailer on a first-response effort. At least 75% of the young black males went out of their way to make racist and threatending comments towards me and the other scientists and engineers there to help them. Anything not nailed down was stolen. We hired workers that literally drove off in govt. vehicles and were never seen again.

Almost 100% of the older blacks were some of the nicest people I have ever met. I had families cooking our crews dinner, when they had almost nothing themselves. They were truly appreciative. I have visited some of them since, and we had one family visit us for a week.

The point is that ones view of a group of people, a city, or any situation is dependent upon their experience and first impressions. If I had never met a black person, and the first blacks I met were the young black males during post-Katrina, my view would be more than just negative. A sad truth!

That's pretty much the way it is down here all the time, not just after Katrina.

If you put something in a cage and poked a stick at it all its life, it might just be bad-tempered.

The rise of Barack Obama is proof that many people have moved beyond race. The reason I think many people have such negative views about others is because they focus on their differences instead of their commonalities. I've traveled the world enough to know that deep down, we all have the same insecurities and desires for ourselves and our families.

That's true... However, in this case, the animals are so stupid they don't realize they're being poked at to move them in the right direction so they can start living free. Thus far, them not responding to the prodding is Nagin's derelict handling of Katrina, Berry's smoking of crack... and then being re-elected, and Kilpatrick's laundry list of crimes and ultimate unseating by the law.

Stop making excuses.

As an African American myself, I know there is a higher percentage of black people who are up to no good than whites or asians. Looks at the stats.
