Ironically it's people that are more rightist (not right of center, but slightly beyond that...I was right of center, now left of center, not much of a move), don't want people to write C-RAP or DUCK (take out the D and replace it with an F).

If you give kids an F, you will be hurting their feelings and shattering their self esteem. In the Liberal world, nobody ever gets hurt, so all kids should pass so that nobody gets hurt! ***** is not the same. I'm half Black. So White Anglo Protestant Heterosexuals (male)...the only group I can think of that doesn't have any stigma attached to them...should be able to call a Black person the N word? Where is the balance? Cracker? Really?
You see my point. One group that has not been marginalized in the entire history of our nation isn't on the same level as those groups that have been.
Initially I agreed with your premise. However, this is assuming that people aren't stupid. People are stupid, however. Sorry putting that bluntly, but the fact of the matter is that constant speech like this tends to reinforce untrue stereotypes.
Groups that essentially have no slurs, well, they have the power. It's not about offending, it's also a matter of how constant a barrage stereotypes we want. Do we really want to go backwards and have the same outdated notions we once held concerning minorities?
