As was said, England's cooler temps are related to the slowing of the Gulf Stream which carried warm water from the Gulf of Mexico to the British Isles. That warm water kept the air warm which gave England a relatively mild climate for it's latitude. The change is related to the melting of the polar ice caps.

Here, read something about it: Britain faces big freeze as Gulf Stream loses strength - Times Online

Headline of the week? Try reading the article instead of hitting the "denial" button. If you did, you would find that this has been discussed for quite a while.

Scientists have long predicted that melting ice caps could disrupt the currents that keep Britain at least 5C (40F) warmer than it should be, but the new research suggests that this is already under way.

I know, I know, the fact is we can take "facts" to represent what we want. For every article of contention there is a counter article of contention and they all call themselves scientists. If it is warm outside, global warming, if it is cold outside, global warming.
By the time global warming starts to make an impact if it ever truly does, mankind will have reached a technological pinnacle that will negate that predicament. I have every confidence that is true. Unless of course we keep electing democrats and inacting laws that slow down the evolution and bring on the devolution such as the democrats attempting to grab power with carbon credits and the like. It is so phony and ridiculous.

You know, science can explain these things. You just have to look at the science.

No, but we may have fuel competitive cars in electric soon enough or some other technology. I am confident in my fellow man. Not all of them but the ones that have some drive and do more that the liberal arts fangtasy world curriculums.

It is weird how different viewpoints become classified and polarized based upon how the current political winds are blowing. Imagine if the environmentalists somehow managed to end up on the Right Wing. My...how opinions would be different.

Yup, I always said that if EGORE had become President the right wing would have found a way to be against invading Iraq, provided of course the left had the gonads to do it which they would not have and we would be having our Malls blown up by now.

People who base their opinions on science aren't swayed by partisan politics in the United States.

Yes, because Iraq was responsible for 9/11.
