This train has wheels with no brakes.

Dem House leader + Dem Senate leader + WH will reconcile the two bills and then put up for vote. That would be Reid, Pelosi and Obama.

No committees, no public hearings, no Repubs invited.
The Dems intend to bypass traditional procecures so that Obama can announce a signed bill at the next State of the Union address.

No snippets since this is an AP article.

Early congratulations Democrats and other Obama followers, you have your healthcare reform now and the few Republicans that hold elected office will be intentionally left out.

Damn ya beat me to it.

By the way many Dems, liberals, and moderates who supported Obama are not happy with this bill and their resentment could well determine this year's upcoming elections.

I recommend fast forwarding to 8:30 from one Big O to another.

I heard on the radio today that the Dem's theme at reelection time is to remind everyone what Bush and the Republicans did and to never let that happen again. I guess they will not talk about 2009 but skip back to 2008 to garnish votes.

No fear, these cheap, undemocratic tactics will be brought front and center by the GOP to remind the electorate how scuzzy Democrats are. If I were a liberal, i'd be scared schitless that Independents are headed towards the exit door in droves. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

There is still a glimmer of hope. They still need majority vote in the House and the 60 in the senate. Maybe if Pelosi is dumb enough she will put the public option in the final bill and (hopefully) the likes of Lieberman will vote it down. *crosses fingers*

Public option in the House version will kill the bill in the Senate. Question is how many Dems in the House will withdraw support if there is no public option.

The lawsuits will prevent implementation - temporarily or more likely, permanently - for decades

You see that is the Republican calculus, policy doesn't matter, just election victories (or loses for that matter).

I wouldn't care if after 2010 the damned Congress was in a dead tie as long as there is significant reform of the healthcare system.
