I have heard this over and over again, also know a health inspector, and this is why, i eat out less often now, and never get a drink out, we take drinks from home with us. I have heard the most disgusting stories, and some from very classy Restaurants. I guess what you don't know won't hurt you, i just found out too much stuff.
And that really is the issue here. While there are places that go past levels of acceptable exposure and we should be leary of, the fact is there is a certain level of toxins at a minute level to which we will be exposed to. The body can handle it in most cases (barring someone with a serious immune deficiency problem or the like). The biggest threat in these cases is simply "knowing" that it exists. For some it is a big deal, for others not so much.
I worked the food services when I was young and have seen a lot of stuff that would make you cringe, but I take comfort in the fact when I go somewhere that I do not know what is going on specifically. If I did, I would be beating the hell out of those attempting to serve me. Ignorance is bliss.
next time you go to one of these places, ask how often they break down and REALLY clean their machines...
I know when I worked for Subway it wasn't daily. More like once a week And that was just the dispensing parts of the machine. Underneath the machine, on a slow day when I wanted something to do? A LOT worse, we had molds growing in there. And our official inspector never bothered to open that cabinet up and look under the machine!
Why do people post things they dont even read or understand...
..."According to the study, 48% of all tested fountains across the country contained coliform, a form of bacteria that is usually found in fecal matter."...
No where does it say fecal mater was on the spout...

That's true, since they link and quote responsibly to their sources.
