Can any one explain to me why the food, water, medical supplies are taking so long to get to these poor people
I fully understand the infrastructure is destroyed & they have a one runway airport, so WHY don't they drop the aid by air???????
Ummm it makes you wonder!!!!

Their crappy infrastructure with no regulations or building codes did them in..they have to clear the roads (what roads are left).

There is no guaranteeing that the drops would get to the people.

Exactly. It's already chaos and there would be more deaths if you just dropped the food in. People would get trampled. There needs to be some sort of order to it.

If the mission was executed correctly, the people would receive the aid.

The mission could be co-ordinated by the UN & US Military.

Exactly. The mission must be coordinated. Airdrops without sufficient forces on the ground to ensure proper distribution would result in even more Chaos. Lets face it Haiti is 1 step away from warlords. warlords hoard such relief supplies build armies and pay them with food and water. Such armies have no disipline and tend to victimize anyone and everyone not affiliated with them.
Helicopters. Once again helicopters require ground crews and support.
Imagine the riots of people fighting over supplies. Is this the next news footage people want to see?

I guess Bush isn't around to blame this time. Goes to show, dealing with large catastrophes isn't as easy as people think.
