I do find it odd that churches and non profits have managed to land in Haiti to offer help, but we are still making excuses for taking a week to organize a few thousand troops who are available at the presidents command..
What's funny is that we've got some people criticizing Obama for pledging "too much" to Haiti, and then those same people turn around and yell, "He's not doing enough!"
I didnt once criticize him for the amount of spending on Haiti.. Are you now claiming that everyone speaks for me? I would disagree with this but then you are now claiming I dont have a voice..

helicopters dont need to travel from Miami, Cargo ships would.. Helicopters can fly from navy ships, Cuba, Jamaica, Bahamas, Turks and Caicos Islands.
You want to discuss only helicopters fine.. Indeed they can travel the distance from these other areas.. If you want to discuss cargo, then one needs to discuss flights from Miami, and the NUMEROUS different planes that are built for this specific purpose. I know yo have to be smart enough to know this but just think you are making browning points because I listed "helicopters".. Woo hoo.. +1 point burdell for knowing the difference, -500 points for not knowing other options exist..

This point was made many posts ago - you simply ignored it.
5 days after Haiti was hit by an earthquake.. US has several hundred soldiers on land to assist.
Hurricane Katrina hits LA on August 29th, and 5 days later there were 54,000 military personnel in the area helping.
Obama pledges $100,000,000 to Haiti while Bush sends $10,500,000,000 to LA
Where is all the liberal outrage for the lack of support? Does Obama care less than Bush did for "black people" Yeah, obserd, but that didnt stop you liberals from making similar statements towards Bush.. WHY?

Anyone who thinks we can (or even should) mobilize to provide aid to a foreign nation as fast or with the same level of spending as for domestic disasters is really foolish...

The rescue in Louisiana was an embarrassment. Our own country wracked by a natural disaster and the executive government (Bush, Cheney, Rice., etc) were not even in Washington. I believe Bush was in California, Cheney was out west and may have been in Wyoming, and Rice was rumored to be shoe shopping in NYC.
I know Bush was celebrating with McCain (his 69th birthday) in Arizona on August 29th, 2005
