So true. Abortion is cold-blooded murder, and there is NEVER ANY excuse for it.

If you lived in one of the states bordering Mexico; you'd see why. It's not a big surprise that New Mexico, Arizona, California and Texas all rank in the top 10 for high teen pregnancy rates.

Do you have an explanation for that?

Don't be blaming Mexico for teen pregnancies. It has nothing to do with it.

Sadly for a fair amount of people in this country they probably see this as reason for more abstinence "education" even though this could be partially a result of that BS that was touted during Bush's presidency. It's just so ironic how some of the most socially conservative states have the most social problems.

Idiocracy is starting to look more like a documentary every year.

The most educated states that have the lowest teen pregnancy rates also have lower divorce rates. I think I read that MA had the lowest divorce rate of any state.

But there are Latinos all over the place. Florida, California, and New York are some of the top states for Latinos.

I watch Maury (don't laugh, lol), and it seems nearly all the teen parents are either black and from a bigger city, or white and from small towns with deep southern accents.

Too bad this doesn't correlate with statistics in real life.

Teen birth rates highest in most religious states - Kids and parenting- msnbc.com

1. Mississippi 1.50% Hispanic
2. New Mexico 44.0% Hispanic
3. Texas 35.7% Hispanic
4. Arkansas 4.43% Hispanic
5. Arizona 29.2% Hispanic
6. Oklahoma 6.10% Hispanic
7. Nevada 24.4% Hispanic
8. Tennessee 2.81% Hispanic
9. Kentucky 1.80% Hispanic
10. Georgia 6.57% Hispanic

The rates for Hispanic teenagers began to decline after 1992; the overall teen pregnancy rate for this group fell about 24 percent during 1992-2004.
Isn't it easy to take a social issue and remotely correlate it to something that it has nothing to do with, no? It's not an issue of race/ethnicity, but a social issue.

I say there's just not a lot to do in Southern towns. I graduated high school almost 3 years ago and I'd say over 50% of the girls I graduated with now have babies. Teen/young adult mothers are VERY common. It has little to do with abstinence-only education because that was never taught here. Condoms are readily available here.
