Here's an example of what President Obama was talking about.
Congressman Davis Announces $1,044,140 Grant for Carroll County School District
Washington, Dec 16, 2009 - Congressman Geoff Davis is pleased to announce that the Carroll County School District has been awarded $1,044,140 in funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) Early Head Start Expansion Program.
Congressman Davis stated, “In these difficult economic times, it is critical to ensure that vulnerable populations in Kentucky have access to important support services like those provided by the Early Head Start program. This important grant will allow Carroll County School District to expand their ability to provide needed assistance to local low-income families and children. I am very proud of the work that the Carroll County School District is doing to strengthen their community, and I am pleased that our office was able to assist them in obtaining these funds.”
Isn't that great? The good Congressman is "pleased" to be able to "assist" his district in receiving money
he voted against. What a swell guy.
Here's another:
President's Job Summit Seeks to Mask Job-Killing Policies Including Stimulus, Cap-and-Tax 12/03/09 WASHINGTON, D.C. - After the large-scale failure of the taxpayer-financed so-called stimulus package, a disastrous proposal to force a national energy tax and an attempt to cut Medicare, U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer questioned the credibility of today’s job summit held by the same administration that pledged just a few months ago that their proposal would keep unemployment below 8 percent.
OK - he calls 'em like he sees 'em - the stimulus was a "large-scale failure" .... BUT,
City Of Frankford Improves Sewer Service With American Recovery, Reinvestment Act Funds "It is critical that we protect rural Missourians from potential environmental dangers and that is why this kind of funding is so important. Clearly, the 328 residents of Frankford will benefit from this grant and I appreciate the USDA’s willingness to help this community,” said U.S. Representative Blaine Luetkemeyer.
And last September ....
Bipartisan push launched to get more stimulus money to complete Page Avenue highway (http://www.stltoday.com/blogzone/chas-beat/politics/2009/09/bipartisan-push-launched-to-get-more-stimulus-money-to-complete-page-avenue-highway/ - broken link)
Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon on Friday endorsed a request by Steve Ehlmann, the Republican St. Charles County executive, for an additional $100 million in federal economic stimulus grants to complete the final nine-mile segment of the Page Avenue extension.
Ehlmann said he had already won support for the application from Republican Sen. Kit Bond and Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill and the county’s two U.S. House members, Republicans Todd Akin and Blaine Luetkemeyer.
Translation: The economic stimulus is a large-scale failure, but please keep that money flowing to Missouri, thank-you-very-much.
Just two examples - Republicans Davis and Luetkemeyer - who have no problem spending the money they voted against. If they really, truly felt that the stimulus money was bad, bad, BAD for the country, why did they work to get stimulus money for their districts, and take credit for the money?
I know - the stimulus money was bad for the
rest of the country, but just fine for their districts.
