You just proved my point that you are indeed contentious but I'll hold off judgment on the other two adjectives since I can't see you in the flesh. Oh and guess you meant Mr. Rube to be an insult? Are those that don't live in cities or with advanced degrees, unlike myself, to be regarded as "less than"? Pity, because that's exactly how uber-capitalists (hint: I'm including you in that minority) view their fellow countrymen.
We agree on a few things and I thank you for pointing them out, but we differ on far too many things to continue a conversation.

My party has failed to take and maintain the conservative stand. While they occasionally talk the good talk, they fail miserably to walk-the-walk, caving in, instead to the Democrats and thier perverse agenda for no other reason, seemingly, to appear to be "open-minded" or "team players" or the like. They should stand and fight and pierce the heart of the Democrat agenda each and every time they have an opening.
I suspect you never bothered to wonder why the meltdown happened now, of all times. A catastrophe of epic proportions by all accounts at the end of a Republican administration that looted the middle class of an unprecedented amount of wealth for an eight year period. I can see, with you at the helm, this country dissolving into civil war in just your first term. Such open contempt for everyone not fortunate enough to be in the 1%. People like you campaign but are never elected to high office. You are not better, smarter, more ambitious or anything else that might be considered 'superior'. Get over yourself. The rich of this planet are currently consuming two planets worth of resources. You managed to finish off Trillions of gallons of oil in just three generations. You have decimated the oceans and marine life. Now vertebrates of all kinds are being born deformed and humans are exhibiting signs of poisoning from pesticides, herbicides and other industrial pollutants that have been deemed neccessary to profit. That is your legacy. Are you proud of it? That is what you are so smug and self satisfied about? The destruction of the planet and all humanity? Not something I would be crowing about, but thats me. Rock on.

Other than being so open minded their brains have fallen out? Not much other than they're the bane of society. If I ran things I'd send 'em all to a island in the South Pacific. They can train monkeys to juggle coconuts. Something they're well suited for.
Neither pure capitalism nor pure socialism are optimal. That's why every modern country in the world uses a combination of the two. We'll never be 100% capitalist or 100% socialist. All we're really arguing over is the ratio between the two.
Great post. Typical liberal brainwashing. The fantastic part of the whole issue is that these liberals completely ignore the fact that US has been made the most powerful, prosperous nation on the planet due to capitalism. Even China, by embracing capitalism, has risen from a stone age nation to a world power. Witness the rise of Japan and Germany post war.
In contrast, the dismal failures of the USSR, Cuba, North Korea, and the eastern block countries show the inability of socialism to improve living conditions or economic output.
Now a rational person, with all that historical data, would be a supporter of capitalism for thier nation. But the self hatred cult of liberalism, given the failures of socialism, of course chooses socialism.
If you ever want to know, when confronted with a problem, the proper action, ask a liberal and do the opposite. It will be the right choice.
