The Greek Economy Explained - WSJ.com
"All of this ought to be a cautionary tale for politicians in Europe's other high-spending, slow growth states—and for those in Sacramento, Albany and Washington, D.C., too. Greece shows that the welfare state model of development, dominated by public unions, onerous regulations, high taxes and the political allocation of capital, has hit the wall. Down that road lies more Greek tragedy."

The stock market drop this afternoon is being blamed mostly on a "trader error" - are you serious... violent protests in Greece that is bankrupt

Violence in Athens after Greek austerity vote - CNN.com

"The Dow Jones Industrial Average plummeted as the protests broke out, falling nearly 1,000 points and dropping below 10,000 before climbing back up and ending slightly above 10,500. Shortly after the close, the Nasdaq said faulty Procter & Gamble stock quotes were a major factor in markets' huge drop"

I'm paying close attention to what is going on.
The austerity measures passed and about 10K showed up to protest.
The riots have turned deadly with petrol bombs killing workers and destroying businesses.

And I think Greece is but the first country...none of the others, including the US are too far behind thinking debt and loans were the same as revenue.

The markets were tanking big time before "the glitch" happened but no one seems to remember that in all the articles I read today...it's all about "the glitch" and the recovery.

Ha, funny how we're blaming Greece for all of this?

Do you all understand, as the USA does worse so will other countries? ESPECIALLY Europe?

If the USA falls, I doubt Europe will still be standing, our economy balances many other's and why would we boycott them?

What's happening in Greece is exactly where we're headed.

The US's next Great Depression is Coming Sooner Than You Think.

It affects the US in that it's obvious foreshadowing of what's to come because politicians have chosen to ignore the clear budget problems the nation faces, and find new ways to increase spending and entitlements.

Yes but at least we aren't on the euro. No one seems to care because it's too much out of everyone's control. We just sit and watch for that reason. How can we care? What could be done now?

The caring should have been 10-20 years ago, too late now.
