I'm looking to retire to Fla in a year and I was wondering on the pros & cons between Cape Coral & Port St Lucie. I'm looking for an inexpensive house with 30 min. or so to beaches and to a Downtown area like Ft Myers or Stuart. Looking for peaceful area, the more parks etc. the better

Isn't Cape Coral known as "Little Beruit" for all of the killings? Or is that Ft Meyers?

Cape Coral has the second lowest crime rate, per capita, in Florida. I don't care for a lot of Fort Myers, though. The crime rate is high and not much trade-off in services for the headaches.

Crime is very low in Cape Coral, however, some parts of Fort Myers are pretty bad. Ft Myers is still really nice too though!

Thanks all, hard to tell however, I get much better postive "vibes" from the Port St. Lucie members. A LOT of negatively coming from Cape Coral/Ft Myers crowd.
