Hello all, I'm a regular over on the CT forum and frequent patron of the South and Mid Coasts of Maine...I am helping to plan a wedding at the Inn By The Sea in Cape Elizabeth. It looks like it's just a stones throw from the Two Lights State Park overlook which is just stunning scenery.

Seems like a really nice place to have a reception, but wanted to get any local input as well on that facility.

Thanks in advance.

Inn by the Sea has a well deserved reputation as a wedding and reception venue. I would suggest calling and talking to their event planner. Also, check with a couple of the local wedding photographers about the available scenery.

That is what I was hoping to hear. Thank you so much for local input!

We are talking to the event planner, but sometimes that's like asking the fox if the hen house is secure.

Default Wedding in Maine

I am a traveling wedding makeup artist here in Maine and that is one place I have not checked out yet. There are some beautiful places for weddings, both elegant and rustic. If you want to give me a yell, I might be able to help you with vendors and experiences I have had with inns, resorts, halls, etc. Good luck!

I had my wedding reception there seven years ago and it was mostly lovely with a few glitches. About a year ago my husband and I dined there and we were NOT impressed. We were told that there were some issues with hiring people and we had our meal comped.

My suggestion: Be sure to ask people who have had recent weddings if possible!

Hmmm, thanks for that. I'm pretty easy going, so if something small is glitched like introducing the wrong name etc that really doesn't bother me much...life is to short to not be human. Things like cold food etc can be a problem.

What kind of glitches did you experience

Sandpiper, thank you for the offer.

Our families had traveled from all over the country and we had rooms booked in the Inn. The night after the reception we had a reservation for a large table for dinner and they gave it away! We ended up having to wait about two hours. But the reception was great.

One other thing- my family has stayed at the Inn most summers and they have found that any weddings are a priority, so that if your room is next to where they need to drive in the stakes for the tent, expect early morning noise. If you read reviews online other people mention this, too.
