Dinner on the Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler is one thing we are thinking of doing. Is it worth it?

We are coming for a visit the End of the month 25th-30th and would like some fun things to do. We plan on seeing the water falls, the Rose gardens and Japanese gardens and maybe if we have time the Grotto.

The food on the Sternwheelers is just OK. For the price there are a ton of better options around town. The cruise itself is so-so in my opinion. I found it interesting only because I'm aware of a lot of the local history up and down the river so I could point out locations to myself.

Now, the Columbia River Cruises are much funner in my opinion. If you can swing one of those I'd recommend it over the Willamette River Cruises. They're both done by the same company but the Columbia River one tends to leave from Cascade Locks, and has a less regular schedule.

I'd also skip the grotto. It's well taken care of and has a few interesting statues, but it's a ways out of the way if you don't have a car. I'd go to the Chinese Gardens (in addition to the Japanese Gardens,) first as they are much more interesting year round.

Yes, I liked the cruise on the Columbia River, out of Cascade Locks much better. On the Willamette, the Jet Boats are my favorite "cruise."

Thanks everybody, we will have a car rental for the week, so that helps.
