But the overall tax burden of living in Washington is higher than the overall tax burden of living in Oregon. Income tax is only one type of tax. We all pay lots of different kinds of taxes.

People can't seem to see beyond the income tax ... and forget that overall, they will be paying more in Washington. I had just looked this up (don't quote me on the exact date), but the "freedom from tax" date in Oregon was like February 14th, and in Washington it was the 24th.

Exactly. Dodging taxes when legal is nice and all, but it's ancillary to the more primary concern of what and where the best job is.

It totally depends. I'm sure property taxes are factored into that, which don't apply to everybody.

There are only two ways for a Clark County resident to travel to Portland metro .. both involve going over heavily trafficked bridges.

Don't overlook the tax WA & Clark County charges when a home is sold.. it is not insignificant.

Yes, if you're driving during peak commuting hours. I knew people who would go to work early and try to leave early--but if they had a late meeting they'd just drive home later. It's pretty bad gridlock trying to get to Vancouver via I-5 or I-205 at anytime from about 4 PM to about 6:30 or 7....

Sure they do. They get factored into rental costs.

Yes, this is the main goal.
