I'll be moving to Oregon in June and starting work at a Wilsonville based company. I'm a new grad and I dont have a car yet (I'm not planning to buy one before Nov/Dec). I really want to live near Portland Downtown so I was looking for apartments near the Barbur Transit Centre from where I can get public transportation daily to work and downtown Portland. I'd like reviews on how the area is. Is it safe? Are there restaurants, shops, grocery stores nearby?

Also, if you were me, between Portland and Wilsonville, where would you live?

Any other inputs/suggestions are welcome...

I'm all over the place on this one.

Where you live, I'd say, depends more on your lifestyle. Wilsonville is very suburban. If that's what you want, go for it. But I can't see living there easily without a car, unless you're a homebody. But ... I always think its better to live nearer to work. You go to work every day, but I don't know that you go out for "entertainment" every day. So perhaps it's easier to live near work, and make the occasional trips into the city.

You're also more likely to find a less expensive place to live in Wilsonville.

As for the Barbur Transit Center. It's an okay area, but I wouldn't want to live right on Barbur or too near the TC. It's loud and busy. The Portland Community College campus is to the south, across I-5, and there're a fair number of apartments there where students live. I wouldn't choose to live there, though, over Wilsonville. I'd consider both suburban.
