I live in St Johns near the bridge. How is the commute? Im hoping that taking 30 half the way will make it tolerable.

It is gonna be a pain, you are gonna have to deal with getting to downtown, work your way through downtown, and then take 43 down to Lake Oswego. You will be happy if it takes you 45 minutes. If the city had put in a highway for that route rather than waste money on choo-choo trains, then it wouldn't have been that bad for you.

Congratulations in finding a job. I know the St. John's bridge & Linnton area very well, by now you know the traffic pinch points in the neighborhood.

Lake Oswego near I-5 or Riverside Drive?

If near I-5 take Hwy 30 to I-405 then I-5 south. When I would go to an office building on Monroe Parkway I would take the Capitol Hill exit and wander through Mt. Park. Kruse Parkway is the next major exit which can be a stinker because it shares traffic with I-217.

Overall I don't think that drive is awful.

Riverside Drive (Hwy 43) is a bit more complicated but you can take the Terwilliger exit south then Taylor's Ferry Rd to Mcadam southbound. There isn't a significant employment base in downtown Lake Oswego.

For the life of me I don't see you 'going through downtown'. I suppose you could take the Kittridge Ave overpass from Hwy 30 and take Front/Naito Parkway then wander over to Mcadam.

Naito Parkway still runs through downtown, I have been caught in traffic plenty of times on that road.

Naito Parkway traffic seems to be either very light or very slow, I take it to go dragon boat paddling several times a week. It wouldn't be my first choice as a work route.

It's really not that bad. I take it to/from work every day and it's never been an issue. Driving along Naito and through downtown is actually the least irritating part of my commute.

Lake Oswego, but only about 1 mile off I-5 near the 217 interchange.

Then the Kruse Parkway exit will likely be your first choice.
