Hi All,

I'm going to be visiting Portland in February 2010 and thinking about staying at Heron Haus (2545 NW Westover Road, Portland). Is that a good place? I'm looking for as inexpensive as I can get per night at a Bed & Breakfast near mass transit so it's easy for me to get around. I don't plan on renting a car for about 1/2 the time I'll be in the city.

Any recommendations?

Thanks :-)

-T

Ah, no one else has replied to your post, so here goes.....

Is there any specific reason you want a B&B to stay at???

You do, I presume, know that to many (outside of N.E.) inexpensive does not equal B&B.

Inexpensive is a Motel Room with reservation made through a discount travel web site. Meals are purchased at diners or Fast Foot places.

From What I know, B&Bs in Portland are at least 4-star rated hostels. Not inexpensive.

No Joke, there is a Light Rail from the Airport to Downtown Portland. Not far from a Red Line MAX stop downtown is a Hotel named the Aces, which others claim has really good rates, and is close to where the Pearl District.

Note: next door to Aces is Sumptown Coffee shop which is better, IMHO, than Starbucks. And next door to Sumptown coffee, I discovered is a great, and one of only limited few, really good Deli with honest corned beef sandwiches. Trust me, in Portland, good deli sandwiches are very few and far between. (aside: I wanted to say "...very rare", but that could be taken as double meaning.)
Any way Kenny and Zuke's Deli (lunch crowd still in line even at 2:00pm three times I tried to eat there.)

Anyway, you know your own business, but just thought since no one else replied to your post, I would add my 2 pennies in the pot.

Phil

Stumptown. Portland's nickname is 'Stumptown' because of all the stumps left over when they cleared land to build the city.

Thanks, I did not notice that "T" in the name, and didn't know that history.

For some reason I thought it was 'Sump" as in basement sump pump, which I presume is very common in Portland.
