Regarding political orientation, it isnt the "redneck" Californians that seem to be of concern to Prescottonians.

It is the progressive Californians that cash out and then move there, yet still want to bring their progressive ways with them, changing Prescott into the kind of place they just escaped from.

I started a thread about it a while back, some good input there.

Prescottonians, why the angst about Californians?

Parts of Prescott already feel like California. The expensive homes, some retirees that bring their politics with them and protest across the street from the county court house. They have no good solutions offered to the city except cause trouble like over grown babies.

A suggestion would be if they were smart entrepreneurship and created start up companies that encouraged people to work for them, it will boost the local economy. Since that's not in the plans, when another recession hits, younger generation who live in Prescott will just move to more business friendly cities. Its that simple, Californians reap what they sow.

So, seriously? There are folks staging protests at the county court house there? What are they protesting?

Both extremes of the political spectrum are represented, facing off across the street from each other. Mostly anti-war vs pro-Trump.

Peaceful assembly and free speech are kinda what this country is all about. I don’t have to agree with what the hippie remnant has to say but I’m glad they (and I) have the right to say it. Even if their emotional maturity never progressed beyond leftist counterculture at the university.

When they start blocking traffic and throwing bricks, that’s a different story.

Prescott is going through growing pains. Your elected officials brought this on, remember.

It's only going to get worse before it gets better, right now its getting worse. Good ol' boys club is alive and well in Prescott, the NIMBYs and stick in the mud people like that. PV on the other hand is going the opposite direction, growing and separating from the status quo.

If I read the Prescott population correctly, they're very much live-and-let-live. Meaning, you'd be perfectly welcome as long as you didn't move there and immediately start agitating for change.

Prescottonians like the place the way it is.
I agree with you!

That's just one of the many reasons why we left New York. Because it's a socialist aristocracy, they've turned that state into one of if not thee most expensive places to live in the country. Somebody's got to pay for all the social programs and support the illegal invaders. I've spent the better part of my adult life living in that God awful state. It was such a blessing to have had the opportunity to get the hell outta' there.

I could never understand why someone would want to move to a place that is not compatible with their political beliefs? Then once they get there try and change it into the place they'd just left? Make no mistake about it, they will try and change it. With their insatiable demands for more government control over every aspect of our lives. They'll never be happy until others are just as miserable as they are. At least that has been our experience living amongst them for the greater part of our lives.

Occasionally they'll be down on the square waving their little banners, shouting their little slogans and stamping their petty little feet in anger over God only knows what? It's always something, there's always some kind of cause. From abolishing the 2nd Amendment to banning plastic straws. Fortunately for the most part and at least for now few people pay little if any attention to them. However it is their right to do so just as it's my right to oppose them and everything they stand for.
