509 total arrests between 2000 and 2009, with the leading charge being D.U.I.
At any one time, there are approximately 1696 players in the league.
509 divided by ten is 50.9; let's round that up to 51.
51 players arrested annually, out of 1696 different players, annually, means the arrest rate would stand at roughly 3% of players, annually.
That means, on an annual basis, an average of 97% of NFL players are not arrested.
I know some people love to hate, and that will never change, but if 97% of players have no trouble with the law; why are we letting 3% of players form an opinion of the other 97%?
I don't "love to hate" generally, but was wondering what is the arrest percentage in the three other major sports are. Got any calculations on that Toxic?

Not to mention that these numbers only refer to arrests, not convictions. Furthermore, many of these arrests result in convictions of misdemeanors, not felonies. So, it's ridiculous to categorize NFL players as felons.
The OP is a noted hater of American football, BTW.

I bet there have been a ton of situations where players got away with crap too. These numbers could be A LOT higher.
It's not the WR's...it's how the positions are listed.
For example the defensive backfield is split up between DB, CB and S so there is no sense of scale.
I wonder if you took a bunch of 20-something construction workers the 3% arrest rate would be about the same.
Must be...Ill see if I can google my way into who that is.

A 3 percent arrest rate annually may seam low, but you've got to keep in mind that the vast majority of players come back and play year after year. So, that percentage increases as players return to the league year after year. If you look at how many current players have a felony, it is right around 21 percent. Which, is pretty high....or maybe pretty low depending on how you look at it. According to this arcticle, 40 PERCENT of NBA players have been involved in a serious crime. So, yeah...NFL has nothing on the NBA.
It's all about them. Just ask them. They love them some them.
People with that kind of attitude often aren't considerate of those around them, so it makes sense that they're more prone to breaking the law.
