We were discussing this at work this week. Personally, I think Vegas would be an ideal spot for an NFL franchise.

Call them the "Vegas Gamblers" Imagine the logo--could be cards on a white helmet with the dead man's hand

I think that the Vegas road game would be the game of choice for fans to follow their team of choice on the road. Go to Vegas a few days early, have a great time and then go to the game.

I think it would be great for the city of LV and the NFL.

I'm a direct descendant of the guy who dead mans hand was named for...I'll never go broke with that hand in poker.

To the question though, I highly doubt it. The threat of game fixing is too high. There is an interesting argument though, with the abundance of internet gambling that the "fixing" problem can and will happen in any city, but with Vegas, I think they fear it's too likely to happen regularly.

Do they really have the fan base for it?

No fan base for it in Vegas. Wouldnt work. Besides, there are bigger and better cities out there who could support an NFL team.

I doubt Vegas is on the short list for an NFL franchise. Roger Goodell said today that if the NFL expands to return to LA, the league will add 2 teams. After LA, I think one of the next obvious choices is San Antonio.

I was kind of thinking that about the on-line gambling and really--I'll bet in Vegas they would have the cleanest operation of anyone with all that scrutiny.

Regarding the ancestry comment--very interesting! To be a direct descendant of an American icon-wow!

I think San Antonio will be a serious contender for that 34th franchise - if this comes to pass. I really don't think they will go with 34 teams personally.

34 Teams? You mean some team will have a QB even worse that than what we have now?
