I don't like it and certainly never watch it for all the obvious reasons. However, I think they should still play it for if nothing else as it probably bugs the players that they have to go. Plus, the Hawaiians seem to like it well enough.
THis pathetic excuse for a game has long outlived it's usefullness. Players certainly want to be named as a " Pro Bowler", but will use just about any excuse not to actually play in the game! Just a litany of bogus "injuries."
It has become an embarassment to the NFL, and a league that is SO concerned about polishing it's image has to be rethinking this pathetic excuse for an all-star game.
Waaaay back in the day, the Pro Bowl-type game was the Super Bowl winner against an all-star team of college players..... like the Giants against the Senior Bowl.
Although that contest was heavily weighted against the collegiate team, at least each side played for something and tried to win.
Since most NFL fans are now either Madden Xbox or Playstation rubes as well, why not just load the players into a computer simulator and play that on TV? I'll bet people would watch it.
... But, I say end it and just name Pro Bowl teams as an honor to give players.
That fits my idea of a post-superbowl telecast showing the named players and highlights of the sort of play that made them all-star picks.
It's rather similar to dog shows on TV, where the dogs compete first within their own breed for "best of breed" distinction, and in the football sense, "breed" equates to their position. The dogs then compete for "best of show" which we can equate to league MVP players.
I think it could work, and perhaps we could do some sort of fantasy game with the pro-bowl picks, and/or the idea of a computer generated game as well. But I still think the game itself should be done away with, I find it hokey to the max.

Got a request for a "sticky". Considering the sorry performance of this recent pro bowl, I'm good with the request. Let's see how this one goes. I'll give it a couple days.
I'm not going as far as to say they should cancel it because I don't have a stake in it one way or the other. If you are asking would I miss it if it were cancelled, the answer is no.
Does Hawaii really have much of a tourism boost from the game? Other than the players and the media people, nobody is going to Hawaii just to see the Pro Bowl.
They used to host it at various team's stadiums. But then some teams would force season ticket holders to buy it as part of the season ticket package.
